Research and Evidence Advisor, International Rescue Committee (IRC),
The International Rescue Committee is an international development agency which responds to humanitarian crises, helping people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC has made a commitment for 100% of its interventions to be evidence-based or evidence-generating by 2020.
To achieve this, IRC undertook an extensive programme of evidence mapping to develop the Outcomes to Evidence Framework (OEF), a tool identifying the evidence for what works to achieve IRC’s target sectors.
Sheree’s presentation, entitled “Supporting a culture of evidence use in a development organization”, will introduce the OEF, IRC’s experience in using it, and lessons for other agencies wishing to adopt a more evidence-based approach.
