Key speakers

We are delighted to announce the keynote speakers and plenary session speakers at WWGS 2019.

In the opening plenary, Santiago Levy will deliver the keynote address, on ‘Integrating policy evaluation into policy design’. Santiago Levy was previously the deputy minister at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico. He is president of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association and a senior fellow with the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution, a public policy organization based in Washington, DC.


Alix Zwane will deliver the keynote address at WWGS’s closing plenary on 18 October at 2.15pm. Alix Zwane is Chief Executive Officer of the Global Innovation Fund, and she will be speaking about GIF’s new investment fund that aims to bridge the innovation funding gap.


Other plenary speakers include:

Mark Schneider, former vice president and Institute Fellow at American Institutes for Research (AIR), President of College Measures and Commissioner of the US National Center for Education Statistics. Mark is now Director of the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) at the US Department of Education.


Jane Mariara, Executive Director of the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), a global network that brings together researchers and research institutions from around the world to build capacity and undertake research that provides contextualized solutions to key economic and social policy challenges in developing countries.


Manny Jimenez, Executive Director of The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). 3ie is a global grant-making body for impact evaluations and systematic reviews.

Early-bird registration closing soon

The early registration rate is available until 18 August. Make sure you complete the payment step of your registration by the deadline, as the payment form will automatically switch to the standard registration rate on 19 August.

There is a discount for Mexican nationals and for group registrations.

Registration will remain open. Participants are welcome to register online before the early-bird deadline or during the standard registration period, or as a late registration after 15 September. On-site registration is also available. The online registration page is on the event website: https://wwgs2019.org/register-now/


Hotel bookings

The conference venue is Fiesta Americana Reforma in Mexico City. WWGS participants who are booking two nights or more at the hotel will receive a discounted rate. Please follow the booking guidelines on the website: https://wwgs2019.org/venue/.
